CONDITION
Disc
Visual:
Side 1 EXCELLENT Side 2 EXC+/MINT-
Side 3 EXCELLENT+ Side 4 EXCELLENT
Both discs still retain their high gloss sheen and it is clear that neither records have been played that much in the past 45 years. Side one has no visible marks other than a non sounding non feelable stylus hairline and the lightest of whispy sleeve removal marks. Side two appears MINT in strong daylight with no noticeable marks. Under a strong halogen desklight nothing much more is revealed other than the faintest of whispy sleeve removal marks. Sides 3 and 4 appear virtually MINT in strong daylight with only a minimum of light non feelable fine surface marks. Both discs lay 100% flat on the turntable.
Audio:
EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT+
There is some occasional light surface noise audible at high volume but no groovewear or distortion to the music signals. I noticed a light click during ‘Don’t Pass Me By’ and some surface noise on ‘Blackbird’ but nothing much more to fault this great sounding copy. The easily damaged ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ plays superbly. Overall a great listening experience with no major faults, skips or jumps.
Labels:
EXCELLENT (all labels omit ‘EMI Recording’)
A clean set of the earliest possible label type with signs of light mottling to labels 2 and 4 visible when angled towards the light but unworn with very light spindle trails. There is no writing to any of the labels. The KT tax code appears on side 2.
Cover
VG+/EXCELLENT-
An original 1968 1st issue top opening numbered sleeve. Generally a well preserved cover which would have graded much higher had it not been for some damage and bruising to the bottom left corner and minor ageing and wear to the spine. The flipbacks on the interior gatefold are fully intact.
Photos
EXCELLENT+
A superb set of original deep contrast photos. Most positively 1968 originals.
Black inners
Very Good
Original 1968 black inners with one inner showing very minor 2cm seam splits.
Poster
Very Good
Handling creases and some wear along the seams but fully intact. There is no writing or pin holes to any of the poster. Positively a genuine 1968 Garrod & Lofthouse lipstick cover and not a later 70’s copy.
