READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles-Related 1969 LP George Harrison Electronic Sound Zapple Label, NM!
The Beatles’ Zapple label holds the distinction of being the shortest-lived label in the music industry. That record holds to this day. It was only in existence for one day. On May 9, 1969, the Zapple label released just two albums and then was never heard from again.
This is the second title released that day.
George, under the pseudonym “Arthur Wax,” has the best dig on the inner sleeve, poking fun at John’s and Yoko’s classic freak albums.
See photos!
Vinyl--- NM/NM. Both sides look unplayed. They probably are.
Plates--- B2/ A1. Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.
Cover--- Strong VG. The only real issues are that the front cover has a moderate arc of ringwear at the top, and a small push-in on the spine. Looks like the spine reads, “George Harris.” All seams and spine are muscular-strong. NO SPLITS.
Labels--- NM/NM. Both Zapple labels look beautiful and fresh. NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Zapple Inner Sleeve--- VG+. Apart from this sleeve having faded over the last several decades, this sleeve looks really good. Some wrinkling. NO SPLIT SEAMS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
