Beatles-Related 45 1974 John Lennon SCARCE Apple PROMO What You Got, EX!
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
Very hard piece, this is the MONO/STEREO PROMO 45 of one of John’s B-Sides. Taken from one of his finest solo albums, “Walls and Bridges,” it seems that Apple had hopes that his #9 Dream/What You Got single could have been a double A-sided hit after “Whatever Gets You Thru the Night” went number 1.
“What You Got” didn’t chart. But guess where #9 Dream charted? You don’t know what you got? Well, you got it. #9 Dream went to #9.
Vinyl: EX/EX. Both sides present extremely well with only light angel hairs on both sides.
Plates: Z1/Z6. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.
The MONO dead wax has the PRO-8030 catalogue number, meaning that this is not a reduction mix from the stereo tapes. The reduction mix would have been missing the “S” in the regular catalogue number, making it 45-48821.
There very well could be differences in the MONO mix!
Labels: NM/NM. Bright green Los Angeles Apple labels look brand new.
Sleeve: VG+. Apple sleeve is nice and flat. Has light serration outdents, but no white wear from the record label, as well as two seams with splits less than an inch long.
Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)

(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
