Beatles-Related 45 John Lennon The KYA 1969 Peace Talk Scarce PROMO ONLY
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
Amazingly hard to find promo-only 45 that was pressed for broadcast by San Francisco’s KYA radio station in 1969. I’m guessing this had to have been broadcast in connection with John and Yoko’s Bed-In for Peace just north of them in Montreal, Canada.
By the way, the other Beatles-related KYA promo-only disc is also for auction this week. KYA Radio had only four titles pressed for radio airplay only, and those two were the only Beatles-related discs. They used Monarch Records in Los Angeles to press their promo discs, all of which are considered rare, as there were only a few copies of each pressed on the west coast only.
Sleeve: A generic white sleeve will be provided to protect your promo Lennon 45 during shipping. (Sorry, I forgot to photograph the 45 in its white sleeve!)
Vinyl: Beautiful, EXCELLENT condition. There are a few light scratches in the dead wax on both sides, but not in the playing grooves. Pressed in virgin vinyl styrene. Gorgeous piece!
Labels: NM both sides.
Plates: Has all the markings of a legitimate copy.
1.) The machine-stamped “MR” in a circle, which was Monarch Records’ insignia.
2.) The hand-etched catalogue number, 76759, which is preceded by a hand-etched Delta symbol, which was Monarch Records’ hallmark.
3.) “KYA Peace Talk, Side 1 and 2” hand-etched and in quotation marks.
All three of those features must be present to be a legitimate pressing.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.

(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
