Beatles-Related 45 and Pic Sleeve Elastic Oz Band God Save Us PROMO NM!

Written by John and Yoko in support of Oz Magazine, this one-off 45 was recorded by The Elastic Oz Band, featuring Bill Elliott.  Collectors will know that Bill Elliott later went on to record for George’s “Dark Horse Records” as half of the group, “Splinter.”

Sleeve: NM.  Beautiful Apple picture sleeve has almost NO wear.  Looks just like it did when it was pressed in the summer of 1971.  Just a hint of record outdent, and that’s all.

Vinyl: NM both sides.  Both sides play the same stereo mix of the song.  An absolute stunner.  I don’t grade records any higher than NM on principle, but this one I would confidently call Stone Mint.  Flawless, shiny and blinding vinyl.

Labels: NM.  Has some manufacturer’s defects that glossy Apple labels sometimes get.  See photos. 

Both labels read, “Not For Sale” and “Promotion Copy.”  Both have black stars.  Both have the promotional catalogue number with the promo prefix, “P.”

Plates: Z9/ Z9.  Both sides have the Los Angeles asterisk, most commonly found on Capitol and Apple promos.  Strangely, they also have New York’s “Bell Sound” and “sf” initials.

You’re never going to find another copy of this promo in this condition.  It must have gone to a Country and Western radio station, because it was certainly never promoted by that station!  Also, check out the James Taylor Apple promo 45 for sale this week.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
