Description
A lot of folks don’t know that James Taylor’s 1st LP was issued on The Beatles’ Apple Records label. In fact, Peter Asher (formerly of the 1960s duo “Peter & Gordon” and brother of Paul McCartney’s girlfriend at that time, Jane Asher) produced James Taylor’s first LP on Apple.
That’s the LP in this auction:
· “JAMES TAYLOR” self-titled LP by James Taylor
· This is Apple Records SKAO - 3352.
· This LP was originally issued February 17, 1969.
· This is a STEREO Pressing.
· The LP was issued in a UNIPAK GATEFOLD COVER with lyrics printed inside.
· The cover has both the US catalog number “SKAO – 3352” on one spine of the Unipak cover and the UK catalog number “Sapcor 3” on the opposite spine.
· It was a GREAT debut LP with GREAT tunes including “Carolina In My Mind” (Paul McCartney plays bass on this tune), “Something’s Wrong”, and “Something In The Way She Moves” (a line borrowed by George Harrison for the first line of his classic love song “Something”).
· This LP is STILL SEALED in its SHRINK WRAP. There is a round sticker on the shrink wrap that reads “FACTORY SEALED FOR YOUR PROTECTION”.
· The VINYL is, of course, MINT/UNPLAYED.
· The COVER is in NEAR MINT CONDITION. There are pushes causing rounding on 3 corners.
· This LP, originally issued in 1969 by Apple Records, was also issued 1971 to 1975 by Apple Records. It has NEVER been reissued under a different record label; therefore, the vinyl disc sealed inside the cover is an Apple Record with Apple Labels.
