Description
HERE IS AN UNCOMMON APPLE RECORDS PROMOTIONAL 7-INCH 45 RPM RECORD. This is the only one I’ve ever run across in more than 4 decades of collecting Beatles and related records! So that should be an indication of how uncommon it is!
In this auction:
-
“ROAD TO NOWHERE” b/w “ROAD TO NOWHERE” by Trash
-
This record was issued in late February of 1969.
-
This is APPLE RECORDS PRO-4671/PRO-4672.
-
This is a VERY UNCOMMON PROMOTIONAL COPY that has an edited (short) 3:06 version of the song on the A-side uncut Apple label (PRO-4671), and the extended ( long) 5:07 version of the song on the B-side sliced Apple label (PRO-4672).
-
“PROMOTIONAL RECORD NOT FOR SALE” is printed on both labels.
-
As you probably know, PROMO RECORDS were issued in VERY LIMITED QUANTITIES and released by record companies ONLY to the radio stations and DJs for airplay. They were NOT made available to the general public.
-
It is doubtful that this record received much promotional airplay.
-
TRASH (originally known as WHITE TRASH) was a Scottish band that recorded just 2 singles on the Apple Records Label. (The band’s name, White Trash, was changed to Trash, because the term “white trash” was considered to be offensive in Britain.)
-
The VINYL is in VG- to G+ CONDITION. It has numerous light surface hairlines/scuffs and several “feel-able” scuffs that would be audible, but there are no skips. The LABELS show some wear around the edges, and there is a light stain on sliced apple label.
-
Although the vinyl is not high graded, it is STILL a HARD-TO-FIND APPLE PROMOTIONAL RECORD.
-
The record comes in an ORIGINAL APPLE RECORDS STOCK SLEEVE.
HERE IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO ACQUIRE A VERY-HARD-TO-FIND BEATLES-RELATED APPLE PROMOTIONAL RECORD!!!
AND THERE’S A BONUS RECORD IN THIS AUCTION!
As previously mentioned, TRASH recorded just 2 singles on the Apple Records Label. The BONUS RECORD in this auction is an Apple 45 RPM stock copy (NOT PROMO) of the only other single that TRASH recorded on the Apple Records label.
Bonus Record:
-
“GOLDEN SLUMBERS/CARRY THAT WEIGHT” b/w “TRASH CAN” by TRASH
-
This 45 RPM Single is Apple Records 1811.
-
It was issued October 26, 1970.
-
Both sides are in STEREO.
-
This single had 3 different labels. This label has “Mfd. by Apple” in the perimeter print on the sliced-Apple label and the song title on the A-side at the bottom center of the label with a “/” in the title.
-
The VINYL is in NEAR MINT CONDITION.
So, here is your chance to get copies of the ONLY TWO SINGLES recorded by TRASH on APPLE RECORDS, one a PROMO COPY and the other a STOCK COPY by this somewhat obscure Apple Records band.
