1st Pressing-Mono
PMC 7067 and PMC 7068
Matrix: XEX 709-1, 710-1, 711-1, 712-1
Stampers: 5OH, 2HP, 2PH, 1RM
Both discs are visually, in stunning, near mint condition, displaying all their original deep lustre and showing no signs of dulling or groove wear. There is one, light, non sounding 3cm needle line on side three but that's it. Apart from a few wispy hairlines here and there, all other surfaces are near perfect. The powerful mono mix delivers crystal clear sound most of the time, however, there is the occasional mild crackle and pop in places but not enough to spoil any enjoyment from these fabulous examples. There are no loud clicks, jumps or stalls and surface static is barely audible.
All four labels omit the 'an EMI recording' and are in near perfect condition with just a small collection of very light spindle trails.
The very early, 1st day issue sleeve, number 0005444, is in superb order and although there is a little missing laminate from the spine, all text is vibrant and perfectly legible. None of these original sleeves retain their whiteness but this example is probably as good as it gets. All surfaces are clean and undamaged, the exterior ones displaying a few light pressure lines when angled towards a light source. Camera shots of these sleeves are always very flattering and tend to give the impresion of snow whiteness but in reality they vary between cream and pub ceiling. This example is a lovely creamy white with just slight age toning.
The original, single die cut, black inner sleeves are in superb condition with just a few tiny seam splits but otherwise completely intact.
The 1st issue 'lips' lyric poster (not shown but included) and the four, band photos are near mint.
All in all, a fabulous example of this first day, mono issue.

I have been asked to be more specific about the sleeve colour, so here goes:
As already stated, the photos make it look whiter than it actually is. It does display a little yellowing throughout but this really is minimal in comparison to most of these originals. It is certainly not pure white but I have never seen one that is. However, the structure of the sleeve is fine and of course, it carries the all important, very low serial number.
