Offered here is a very nice original mono copy of Bee Gees' 1st on ATCO Records (33-223), featuring the desirable 2-tone label. This is one of the group’s most important early albums and a sought-after title for collectors of 1960s pop, psychedelic rock, and original mono pressings.
About the Release
Released in 1967, Bee Gees' 1st was the group’s international debut album and helped introduce the Bee Gees to a worldwide audience. The record blends baroque pop, psychedelic textures, and harmony-driven songwriting, and includes several of the band’s best-known early songs such as “New York Mining Disaster 1941,” “Holiday,” and “To Love Somebody.” The album remains one of the defining Bee Gees releases of the 1960s and captures the group before their later transition into a more polished pop and disco sound.
For collectors, original mono ATCO pressings are especially appealing because mono copies were produced in smaller numbers than later stereo copies and represent the period-correct format of the era.
