Gorgeous factory sealed original 1969 ATCO pressing of the Bee Gee's seminal "Odessa." The 2-record set is an extraordinary leap forward in terms of songwriting and arrangements. At the time, the record did not sell well and most sealed copies are cut outs. This is an original stock copy sold at Woodward and Lothrop in the Washington, DC area circa 1961. Hype sticker on the shrink. NO CUTOUT or rivet.
The red felt looks perfect beneath the breathe holes. At some point there was a small split in the shrink on back which was repaired carefully with tape to prevent further separation. The felt beneath looks brand new.
The album itself is remarkable. A double LP full of the "IDEAS" the brothers were experimenting with at the time. Like the Beach Boys' "Smile" before it, the sessions were long with multiple retakes and overdubbing. Unlike "Smile," however "Odessa" was completed and we as fans are the winners.
The sessions took their toll on the brothers' relationships and Robin left soon after (albeit temporarily) for a solo career (q.v., "Robin's Reign") and Barry and Maurice continued as a duo (q.v., "Cucumber Castle").

I am first and foremost a collector. I have been collecting and enjoying recorded music on vinyl since 1973. I know how to grade. You will not see a lot of NM grades because it is a very high standard. EX+ iis the highest level of Goldmine’s VG+ and will normally delight any serious collector. Unfortunately, overgrading is epidemic on ebay, requiring buyers to “do the math” in their head to estimate an actual grade. My grades are solid and satisfaction is guaranteed.

An EX record (true VG+) will satisfy music lovers who want to enjoy the music without distraction.
I only sell collectible albums (VG+ or better) and I grade strictly using a halogen lamp. Anything that doesn’t meet the grade goes in the garbage. I don’t want it. You don’t want it. No need to hold on to it.
