SAX 2373 Beethoven – Klemperer Columbia Stereo Blue/Silver label
Beethoven Symphony No. 5 in C Minor (opus 67) and Overture ‘King Stephen’ (Opus 117). Otto Klemperer conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra.
In bright light there are some faint surface marks, sleeve withdrawal marks and light scuffs, certainly nothing feelable. They are mainly on side 2. However I hold the disc I can see no spindle marks, but this label is hard to see them on, so cannot be 100% sure, but looks to have been rarely played. But the record can only be classed as EX-because of these light marks
The Cover is in excellent condition. There are only a few slight creases in the laminate at the edges, nothing disturbing at all and only mentioned to be clear. It is very close to M-. The unlaminated back is slightly off colour, but is not dirty or grubby, just faded with age, as this LP is more than 50 years old.
I have a collection of 250+ classical LPs that I will be putting up on ebay over the next weeks. There are many rare items. Many SXL - ASD - SAX - RCA Living Stereo and other recordings, mostly original pressings. There are many sought after artists and conductors; Ida Haendel - Ruggiero Ricci - Campoli – Milstein- Furtwangler - Argenta - Kogan and others.
There is no way I can listen to all of these LPs. I will describe the records as exactly as I can and, in the case where I can see anything I would consider to be an issue with the vinyl, ie something that is very noticeable, I will play at least the affected part of that item and report the results. In describing them I will grade them as carefully, visually, as I can. If there are any issues I have missed they will be very small, as I will be looking at them carefully in bright light, with a critical eye. I do not guarantee they will be completely free of the occasional pop or click. However, I would expect that a good clean would improve the playback if there are any. Please bear in mind that these early Stereo pressings are 50 to 55 years old and will have accumulated some dust and dirt, however carefully they were kept. Also please bear the above in mind when bidding, Basically, I will try to describe them as carefully as if you were looking at them in a shop.
