Yes, Rostropovich and Richter fans in the Home Viewing Audience (we know you are legion!), V.S.O.V. stands ever-ready to advance and celebrate your musical cults! We, too, adore the mighty Slava and the peerless Sviatoslav, too, and are currently sitting atop a small mountain of choice, well-curated recordings (only brand new and pristine used) through which these true Chamber Music Masters can be inimitably and beautifully heard. Here on offer is a Choice Rarity: the Original Philips 2-LP Stereo set from 1963 carrying the Beethoven Cello Sonatas (Complete). It don't get no better than this! Indeed, upon release this justly famed set won both the Edison Prize and the coveted Grand Prix du Disque both for the supremely beautiful, masterly interpretations and for the expansive, perfectly calibrated audio engineering quality--Thank You Dutch sound technicians! When they first made this set, both artists were racing upwards toward totally brilliant command of their instruments. Together, they made the very finest, most genial, and tightly interconnected duo to take on some of Beethoven's absolutely greatest chamber compositions from all eras of this Titan's lifework. Arguably, here Rostropovich and Richter set to Stereo vinyl the Definitive readings of these epic sonatas. Under bright light, both disks appear pristine and flawless. Play Grading throughout shows super-quiet disk surfaces, outstanding capture of both musical lines, and the pure expressive joy of two great masterly players reveling in Beethoven's grand, eloquent, and jesting chamber rhetorics for cello and keyboard. Both disks still show high-gloss vinyl and appear little played. Mechanical Stampers indicate first edition and first pressings. Stout Box Set here also superb. Near-Mint, All Seams Intact. Not a Cut-out.. Inner Plastic-lined, Philips Paper sleeves of era. Highly detailed and copiously illustrated liner note booklet. Simply a legendary and now quite rare recording of its era. Snatch up this Pristine exemplar right now!
