Beethoven Symphony 4 Ansermet UK Decca SXL 2116 WBG

 

Ernest Ansermet with the Suise Romande Orchestra performs the Beethoven “Symphony No. 4”, and “Coriolan” Overture. An English stereo pressing on the Decca Label (SXL 2116 stampers 1E/3E), the labels are black with “original recording by” at 10 o’clock, a full frequency stereophonic sound fatband and ffss logo, and a groove. The record has some marking on track one of side two and at the start of track two on the same side, but they do not appear to sound and otherwise the record is of very good appearance, and plays and sounds superb (another Ansermet blockbuster) with some occasional low-level surface noise. The cover has rubbed with a ring and has some creases in the laminate.
