Description
For sale is a good play copy of a stereo album of Bruno Walter conducting Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major (6th Symphony / Sixth Symphony) (Pastorale) on Columbia. It is Columbia MS 6012.
I am a record collector. I am not a store. I grade conservatively using a NM, VG+, VG, VG-, G scale. I do not use EX.
Visually, the record has some scuffs from being taken in and out of the paper sleeve (like many records do, even new ones), and maybe a couple of very faint scratches that are not feelable. Visually, I'd say the record looks like a VG+ record at a store. I cleaned the record on my VPI record cleaning machine. I then played the record on my Dual 1229 turntable, which has a Shure m97xe cartridge on it, and KEF speakers. The record plays very well. I heard only very very faint crackles in the run in grooves at the beginning of each side, and only some very very faint crackles during the quietest parts. I did not hear any pops that recurred upon each revolution, like a pop from a scratch would be heard. All in all, while the record is not near mint (NM), and I know many classical record collectors only want near mint records, I think this is a very nice play copy for someone who wants to have and hear a stereo pressing of this class performance and recording. I am going to grade it as VG+.
The cover is less good but it works. There is some shelfwear. The spine is damaged and some of it is missing. Someone (not me) taped the bottom edge. The top edge is intact. And there is some ringwear. I am going to grade it as VG-.
