Description

Here is a great copy of Beethoven's 'Choral' Symphony, as performed by Ernest Ansermet, conducting L'Orchestre De La Suisse Romande. The soloists are Joan Sutherland (soprano); Norma Proctor (contralto); Anton Dermota (tenor); and Arnold Van Mill (bass). The choirs are: Chorale du Brassus, and the Choeur des Jeunes de L'Eglise Nationale Vaudoise, conducted by Andre Charlet.

This version has a very interesting and slow first movement that builds in energy and depth as it proceeds.

This is a deep groove earlier pressing: Side 1: ZAL-4603, 2E; Side 2: ZAL-4604, 1E.
