Description

Definitive performances and sound of the Beethoven late string quartets! Grammy winner at the first Grammy awards in 1958 (Qt. #13). Near perfect shape!
This is a wonderful set from Capitol when they put out some of the best sets by any recording studio in the late 1950s. Earliest gold-green label with Capitol's best deep-groove vinyl is wonderfully recorded. Critics uniformly regard these performances as among the greatest and rarely matched. Sound is also praised for realism even though mono. The Hollywood String quartet is led by Felix Slatkin on violin.
LPs are all in near mint condition as is the outer box. Inner sleeves have tears at some edges. Includes the liner insert by Desmond Shawe-Taylor. Rare to see this highly sought set in such good condition.
