Description

Up for auction is the original gatefold, cheesecake jazz album inspired by sex symbol Brigitte Bardot.  This is NOT a reissue.  It is the original 1960 release, in monophonic sound.

Title: Behind Brigitte Bardot
Artist:  Pete Rugolo
Label:  Warner Bros (WB B1371)  [NOTE:  The label is WHITE and is marked "Promotion...Not for Sale"]
The album cover also states:  "Cool sound from her hot scenes.  La musique explosive.  Unrestrained and unexpurgated."  The title of this album is a "double entendre".  The word "behind"  is supposed to mean the music that played in the background during scenes from Bardot's movies.  However, there is no mistaking that BB's "behind" is prominently displayed just underneath the album title.

Side One Tracks:  Jeff's Blues; Mambo Bardot; Tell Me Something Sweet; Arsenic Blues; Paris B. B.
Side Two Tracks:  Manina Theme; A T'Aimer; L'tang; Ma Vie Est A Toi; The Night Heaven Fell
Peter Rugolo (1915 - 2011) was born in Italy and emigrated to the US at age 5.  He was educated at San Francisco State University and then at Mills College (where he studied under Darius Milhaud).  After service in World War II, he became an arranger for the Stan Kenton big band.  He scored music for June Cristy (Kenton vocalist), Nat King Cole, and Harry Belafonte.  Eventually he contributed to many movies and television shows.  He wrote the theme music for "The Thin Man", "The Fugitive", and "Run For Your Life".
Brigitte Bardot (1934 -   ) began to appear in movies in 1952, but became a world famous sex symbol on the basis of the 1956 film "And God Created Woman" (Et Dieu Crea La Femme).  BB also had a recording career, starting in 1961, but does not sing on the album "Behind Brigitte Bardot".  In recent years, she has been a noted animal right activist.
