Description

Here we have for auction the second album by Belly on 12 inch vinyl, released in UK on the legendary 4AD label. They are alternative rock band formed in Rhode Island in 1991 by former Throwing Muses and Breeders member Tanya Donelly. Although formed in Rhode Island, the band has long been claimed by the Boston music scene.

Although the members had tightened their focus and polished their hook-laden songs, the album and its singles did sell as well as hoped in the grunge-friendly atmosphere of 1995, and the band broke up shortly after it was released.

The initial lukewarm reaction has be reevaluated over the years and some critics now hold it as an equal to Belly's highly-regarded debut Star. King was listed at number seven on PopMatters' "Top 15 Overlooked Albums of the 1990s".
