Ben Webster - Stardust Deluxe Double-Disc 45RPM 200Gr Vinyl
The new and rare collection of tracks on this album is a thoughtfully chosen compilation from Ben Webster’s European period (1964-1970). The offer to play for a month at Ronnie Scott’s Club in London in late ‘64, marks a turn in Ben Webster’s career as he settled in Northern Europe, where he spent the rest of his life.
Even if his body declined during his last years, his playing never did. To the last day, Webster played with passion and intensity and his ballad playing became even more beautiful and tender, simplified almost to the laconic and delivered with weight on every note. Webster was one of the unique jazz musicians whose presence came through on every recording. The tracks in this album present a window to that very important period in Webster’s career. Mastered by René Laflamme from the original 15 ips tapes, on all tube equipment.
Jazz Saxophone Great Ben Webster has been a favourite among audiophile listeners. Stardust by Ben Webster was written by Hoagy Carmichael and was first released by Hoagy Carmichael & His Pals in 1928. 
The  nickname ”The Brute and the Beautiful” was aptly given to Ben Webster. He became famous for his beautiful sound which gave his ballad playing a unique touch of tenderness, while his playing in faster tempos was virile and filled with growl. “I’ve heard Ben play in so many settings but to sit down and listen to him play a ballad – nobody who ever played a ballad does a better job than Ben Webster does on it” - Dizzie Gillespie. This particular collection emphasizes Ben’s versatility with an emphasis on ballads. A must for all Ben Webster’s fans.

Original Recording Format: Analog Tape Analog Recording Equipment: Nagra-T Tape Recorder modified with high-end tube playback electronics, wired with OCC silver cable from the playback head direct to a Nick Doshi tube head preamplifier.
