Jazz Giant is a cornerstone of Benny Carter's career, capturing the legendary multi-instrumentalist at the height of his powers. Recorded in Los Angeles between June 1957 and April 1958, this album is a rare treat that features Carter playing both alto saxophone and trumpet. He is joined by an incredible ensemble of jazz heavyweights, including Ben Webster on tenor sax, Barney Kessel on guitar, and André Previn on piano. This record is celebrated for its sophisticated arrangements and the effortless, "urban" elegance that became Carter's hallmark.

  • This is a rare Promotional "Sample" First Pressing. It is distinguished by the large "SAMPLE RECORD NOT FOR SALE" stamp on the upper left of the back cover and the "SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE" ink stamp on the Side 2 label. As an original 1958 release, it features the authentic yellow-on-black "Stereo Records" label design and the 8481 Melrose Place address. This edition was released just as stereo technology was being introduced, making these early "Stereo Records" pressings highly collectible for their superior engineering and historical significance.
