This superb LP – a still-sealed copy – from Columbia Masterworks (MS 6956, US pressing, label iteration unknown – presumably gray “360 Sound” label*, stereo) entitled “Bernstein Conducts Bartók” features the great conductor leading the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the piano duo of Arthur Gold and Robert Fizdale in two stunning Bartok performances.

This album was produced by John McClure. There are fascinating liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by the extraordinary musicologist Nicholas Slonimsky. The striking cover design is uncredited.

*Note: Given that this is a still-sealed copy, I cannot guarantee what label the enclosed vinyl bears, but given the weight it is almost certainly the original gray “360 Sound” label (vs. the later, more Dynaflex-like brown label).

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the still-sealed jacket is near-MINT. There is minor ringwear to the rear panel (though this could be limited to the shrinkwrap), but that is all. Otherwise, the album appears almost as new – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.

The condition of the LP is MINT. This is a still-sealed, unplayed copy – the ideal collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
