Bert Jansch - 1st LP
(Transatlamtic TRA 125 UK LP 1965)
This is a 1965 UK 1st pressing LP. It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve which is printed by "Garrod & Lofthouse". It has its original circular record shop price sticker (35/-) on the front. It comes with its original company plain paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl and has smooth white & purple Transatlantic labels. The labels have the very earliest "Globe" label design. The record has 1st press TRA 125 A and TRA 125 B matrix numbers. These are machine stamped in the dead wax. A genuine UK 1st pressing of Bert's classic debut LP. This LP includes the classic "Needle Of Death".
Sleeve: There is moderate to considerable fading, staining & foxing on the rear sleeve (see photo). There is mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is light, mild or more moderate hairline rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges. This is not too noticeable. There is a thin strip of very mild fading to the "blue" of the front sleeve. This is at the spine area. There is a tiny 0.5 cm hairline bit of wear at centre of spine. Otherwise, the spine is in very nice condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. Overall, the sleeve is in Good condition
Vinyl: There is a very mild 1 cm hairline surface mark on Side 1. There is a very light 6 cm hairline surface paper sleeve rub mark on Side 1. This barely notices under a strong light. There is a very mild 7 cm hairline surface mark on Side 1. This is not too noticeable under a strong light. Otherwise, there are some light, mild, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The original paper inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor feint, or dull, surface marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, the vinyl is in Very Good+ condition. The labels are in Near Excellent condition & show mild or more moderate spindle wear only.
The original company paper inner sleeve Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall & Near Excellent in many places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle noticeable in some quieter places. There are a couple of very mild clicks on one track on Side 1. There are a couple of mild clicks on one track on Side 2. There is s brief bit of more moderate crackle on one track on Side 2. This doesn't last that long. Overall, a very decent audio copy!
