Description
Louis Armstrong plays cornet virtually throughout while
accompanying Bessie Smith as she sings "You've Been A Good Old
Wagon" on 78rpm Columbia 14079-D. Fred Longshaw also sits in on piano.
On the other side, this time accompanied by Charlie Green on
trombone, Buster Bailey on clarinet, and Fletcher Henderson on
piano, Bessie does "Dixie Flyer Blues" with some accompanied train
effects.
Both sides were done in New York City in 1925, however it would appear that the
Good Old Wagon side is acoustic (1/14/25), while the Dixie Flyer side is electric, being
recorded 4 months later (5/15/25).
The record is in excellent-plus (E+) condition.
