Vinyl Grading Are As Follows :
Mint (M) : Never been played or used Still in original shrink wrap and brand new..any tears in the shrink wrap will be noted in description.
Near Mint (NM or M-) : This record appears virtuously flawless. If there is a flaw, it should be very hard to see. Very minor scuffs and very little else can appear on the vinyl. It should play clean with a crisp fidelity throughout, without any noise over the flaw. Jacket will be virtually flawless, slightest signs of wear, may be one bumped corner, or a hint of edge wear. Shrink wrap, if still on, may have some sticker on it or minor tearing.
Excellent (EX) : Record May Have some marks (very , very light scratching) that may sound briefly in a quieter passage with some minor background noise permissible. The jacket may have the very lightest signs of ring wear, some light corner or edge wear, maybe an old price sticker or two, that should peel off with the proper guidance.
Very Good Plus (VG+) : Record will have some light marks ( light scratches and light sleeve scruffs), and it might make an occasional pop or crackle in parts, but will not even come close to overwhelming the listening experience. still a very desirable grade..As for the jacket, it will start to show more sings of wear than a EX jacket, the ring wear maybe slightly more evident the edge wear or corner wear maybe more defined as well.
Very Good (VG) : Record may have several scratches and scuffs, though aside from some popping and crackling, will still be an enjoyable listen. No skips here. The jacket will have far more wear than the previous grades, such as: edge wear to the point of some seam splitting(the kind that can be repaired with tape or other means), ring wear(not terrible, but still distracting from the image), edge and corner wear, minor writing or a few stickers, or other similar defects.
Good (G) : Loss of luster to vinyl. Several scratches and heavy marks (deep enough to feel with fingernail) that will affect the sound and groove wear will be noticeable. Will play without sticking or jumping but will have surface noise throughout. The Jacket have Seam splits, large marker writing, major seam splits, significant ring wear, damaged corners, tears cuts, gouges ,masking or duct tape seam repairs or other flaws and damage. Probably only used as a collection filler until a better copy can be found.
A Special Note Regarding Records :
Unless buying a vinyl record that is SEALED, or in NEAR-MINT condition, there will always be some type of surface sounds, or background noise, known as pops and crackling.
If the Records has been played a couple of times, it can never be perfect. This is especially noticeable in classical and jazz records, which have quiet passages.
you are buying vinyl Records because they sound better than CDs; however the pops and crackling come with Vinyl Records.
