Description: J. P. Richardson (aka the Big Bopper) only put out one album before his untimely death on February 3, 1959. That album, Mercury MG 20402, promoted his hit single, "Chantilly Lace." Commercial copies of the LP are somewhat hard to find, but white label promotional copies like this one are considerably scarcer. This is an original copy of the white label album, in its original hard cardboard cover -- with its original Mercury Records inner sleeve. The Big Bopper went down in history as the inventer of the music video; hear what he sounded like on this LP!

Condition: The cover is in VG+ condition. The glossy front cover looks beautiful and would display extremely well. The back cover retains its whiteness, although a wear ring is starting to show. The corners are a bit "bumped," and there is a one-half inch seam split along the bottom seam at the mouth. The spine is intact, with the writing fully legible. The original inner sleeve is in about VG condition, with seams splitting and some old tape.

The labels both look very nice. One or two spindle marks appear on each side. There is no writing, and there are no stickers on either label. The record is in VG+ condition overall. Only a couple of scratches and some "jacket rubs" keep it from a higher grade.
