Description
Among the rarest of all Columbia rock LP pressings is the 1968 Mono cut of “Cheap Thrills” by Big Brother & the Holding Company. By 1968, Columbia, like most labels, was phasing out mono in favor of stereo mixes. As a result, very few mono copies of this iconic LP were pressed, and most of those went to radio. Offered here is one of those unicorn examples.
The glossy vinyl would be VG+ but for a thin/fine scratch on S2 that causes repeated tics for a minute or so and some minor hairlines seen in bright light. For that reason it must take a hit on the grade to VG. But no skips or jumps observed during my test play thru an Ortofon mono cart. See photos which form an important part of the description and message me with any additional questions.
Cannot emphasize enough that this rare 1st mono cut sounds HUGE. Best sounding pressing of this LP. An impossibly rare record and essential part of any serious iconic rock LP collection.
Ultrasonic cleaned and shipped in a antistatic archival inner sleeve .
