Description

Bill Evans Trio - Explorations, 1961 US 1st MONO Pressing.  Riverside RLP 351

Matrix/runouts confirmed as:
Side 1- RLP 12-351 A
Side 2 - RLP 12-351 B

Yet another (with many more to come!) rare and sought after find from dads old stash of LPs.  This is his sole owned classic from Bill Evans.  Makes me wish i hadnt spent 00's on reissues but my bed is made now so it has to go.  We know its not seen light of day let alone been played since at least 1983 and our house move.  This record is unique from dads collection in that its actually clearly been played/loved in the distant past and i will try to describe it as best i can below:

Vinyl - clear signs of play.  Minor hairlines and scuffs adorn both sides.  Most of which are unlikely to cause much audible concern but some snap crackle and pop should be expected.  Its sole worst feature is side one features a long scratch which can even be felt at its centre most and i would expect playback to be affected heremost.  Otherwise the LP simply needs a clean and i expect will playback well for the most part.  On dads vintage Linn (sadly out of order currently) the LP appears unwarped.

Jacket/sleeve - The original jacket is holding up very well.  Seems and spine are free of crush or splits and feel strong.  Only as pictured at the bottom right is the front and back coming away slightly.  The jacket is lightly textured, feels good and notably feels rigid and fit to last.  The inner sleeve is not the original, i know not exactly what became of it.  I assume dad must have replaced it before storing as the current sleeve is in great shape almost looking like new and is poly lined which is nice.  I would guess this was done literally at storage or boxing up time hence its condition.

How to value yet another rare and original LP of such glorious music with demand outweighing supply?  Judged from Discogs anywhere between £40 and £340 is the going rate.  The cheapest copy as it stands is £78 from a US seller who gives no description or history.  I cannot deny the condition of this LP lets it down with the scratch and thus on balance ive tried to price it very fairly.

It will be packed safely and shipped asap if it sells.
