BILL EVANS TRIO – WALTZ FOR DEBBY

(RIVERSIDE RLP9399– ORIGINAL 1962 AUSTRALIAN STEREO PRESS)

 

Legendary 1961 live session featuring the Bill Evans Trio which, besides pianist Evan’s, featured the late (great) Scott LaFaro on bass and evergreen Paul Motian on drums.

 

Long considered a small ensemble classic, this release is probably one of the ‘smoothest and chilliest’ jazz albums ever made (next to Miles’ Kind of Blue!). The perfect Sunday Morning record with the lush, brilliant musicianship speaking volumes!

 

This is an extremely rare original stereo Australian pressing on Riverside, pressed by Philips Records. As per jazz releases of overseas albums in Australia in the 60’s, there probably weren’t more than several hundred pressed (and the majority would have been Mono ones) It rarely ever turns up!

Cover = VG (Unlaminated thin card. Ringwear from storage. Slight wearing on spine and small seam splits. Some minor creasing and tear top right on back cover flap. The date ‘1/62’ has been written in pencil top right of back cover as well)

 

Record = VG (EX-) (Lovely sheen and 5 out of the 6 tracks play EX- with minimal crackle. However, T1, S1 – which is a very quiet piano solo track - has a scratch which clicks lightly with slight crackle. Hence, because of this, I have rated the album VG)

 

Blue Riverside labels in Excellent Condition.
