Up for your Consideration is this 1961 Used 33-1/3 LP Jazz Album by “Bill Evans Trio” titled “Waltz for Debby” Featuring "Scott LaFaro" …Originally released in 1961 on Riverside Records …with a product number of RS9399-RLP399…Monophonic Pressing… LP Record is in EX- Condition, for most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections… Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new….both sides have surface marks, NO scratches, which none of the marks are noticeable when being played…No snap, crackle or pops…sound quality is superb….Labels are in EX+ Condition with the Deep Groove (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings)… Blue label mike and reel with silver writing and this is as good as it gets it is the last of the mono pressings … Album Cover is in GD+ Condition at best, there are issues; the bottom has a 5” split in the center and 2” split at the opening which has been very nicely taped… there is lots of shelf ware on the front, mostly where the edge of the album and the label would be top bottom and center of the album… the top right corner is dinged… overall what I see is a Wonderful Used Jazz 33RPM Album that is in VG++ Condition … I have set up a rating chart below... I inspect everything under bright spot light and state what I see plus the album has been played for sound quality...Condition is a very subjective thing and is up to each individual’s interpretation... Please look at all of the pictures since they are a part of the description also... All of my LP’s come with a clear plastic protective sleeve and are mailed out in a standard Album Mailing Box that holds up to 3-4 Albums…I love to combine to save you money on shipping…if you are interested in this Great Jazz LP please be sure to bid early to beat out the last minute snipers…thank you for looking and good luck on your bidding…<><
Bit of History
Waltz for Debby is a 1961 album by the Bill Evans Trio of Evans, bassist Scott LaFaro, and drummer Paul Motian, originally released as RLP-399. This was Bill Evans' first trio. The album was the fourth and final effort from the unit—LaFaro died in a car accident just ten days after the live date at the Village Vanguard from which Waltz for Debby and its predecessor, Sunday at the Village Vanguard were taken. The loss of LaFaro hit Evans hard, and he went into a brief seclusion. When Evans returned to the trio format later in 1962, it was with Motian and noted bassist Chuck Israels...The title track, a musical portrait of Evans' niece, became a staple of his live repertoire in later years. It originally appeared as a solo piano piece on Evans' debut album, New Jazz Conceptions. It remains what is likely Evans' most well-known song, one that he would play throughout his career.
