Description

Incredibly rare (I can't find any reference to another copy anywhere) South Africa pressing of this 10" Billie Holiday EP dating from, I think, either 1951 or 1954. Marked 'S Africa' on label and on back cover. There is also a stamp from the Johannesburg record shop where it was purchased on the back cover. Record and sleeve are VG/VG. There are some light marks on the playing surface, but it plays through fine. Labels are clean. The cover has no writing (other than the contemporary shop stamp), but there are a few creases and two minor tears on the opening edge of the cover. Interestingly, the cover is stitched rather than glued (like a book, I suppose) and a plastic inner sleeve with a small foldover flag is fixed inside the cover. Must have been the way they did things in South Africa back then...?
