Description
For sale is Billie Holliday's “Songs for Distingue Lovers", on Verve MG V-8257, MONO, DG, 1958. 1st Press.
SOUND: VG+
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. The playback is very nice overall (VG+). There is some soft surface noise or random tics here and there. Minor, with little impact on the playback. I rated each cut VG+ (and A3, NM.)
VINYL: VG+
The vinyl also very nice, with only very faint scuffs and a couple faint hairline marks. All superficial. The DG “trumpeter” labels are beautiful, with very faint spindle marks. Conservative grade of VG+ on the vinyl. Original first press has misspelled title on center labels as "Distingue Lovers."
JACKET: NM
The jacket is very, very nice. Solid all-around, corners with very minor wear, front and back in very clean, unmarked, well-kept condition (NM.)
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
Original first-press in beautiful shape, plays great! Opening bid is $50
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
