Description
For sale is Billy Joel's Greatest Hits Volume I & Volume II, originally released in 1985 by Columbia Records as a double record set with a gate-fold presentation. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 1C/1HX for record One and 1A /1E for record Two, followed by machine stamped "Sterling" and an etched "G1", indicating that an early stamper was used to make this record after being mastered at Sterling Sound, N.Y.C. (according to the liner notes by Ted Jensen), then pressed at Columbia Records' pressing plant located in Carrollton, Georgia. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering that are known for their superior sound quality, sought after by collectors and music lovers alike. I bought this set used, professionally cleaned them on my VPI HW-17 machine. It does contain the original sleeves which adds to the value and protects the integrity of the vinyl. The cover is graded as VG+ because of some corner blunts, ring wear, minor edge rubs and some color loss. See pictures. The vinyl is visually graded as Excellent. See pictures. The records have been played on state-of-the-art audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life left to it. This is still one of the best copies of this album that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find a first edition in any condition.
