Description
Billy Joel’s first national hit and his signature song, “Piano Man” was released on November 2, 1973. This white label promotional copy was produced by Columbia Records and sent to radio stations to generate airplay. One side is the stereo mix and the other side is the mono mix. The radio station intake stamp is December 8, just five weeks after the song was officially released.
Vinyl: This copy is fantastic. I would comfortably grade this disc in M- condition (Mint minus) with plenty of shine
Labels: There is a Dec 8 1973 radio station date stamp on the stereo label and a file sticker that reads 1 JBB. The identical sticker is on the sleeve. The B side label is unmarked.
Sleeve: Original Columbia company sleeve. No rips, tears or seam splits. Some small folds.
Provenance: This copy was in the collection of a Massachusetts disc jockey and collector who had it for more than 50 years before his death in 2024.
