***THIS 78 rpm SET HAS BEEN PLAY-GRADED ON MY 1957 RCA CONSOLE PLAYER***

• 78's:
  • ​Record 1:  E-  (....spots of superficial surface marks from storage; has a couple smaller lightly feelable hairline spots; has an edge ding spot with an outer edge chip in this spot in starting dead-wax each side that runs about 1/2-way into starting dead-wax each side....overall, plays decently on my player with some lighter general surface noise and the odd faint tic spot - see photos)
  • ​Record 2:  V+/E-  (....spots of superficial surface marks from storage; has a a few lightly feelable hairline spots S3....overall, plays decently on my player with some lighter general surface noise and spots of faint light tics S3)
  • ​Record 3:  V**  (....spots of superficial surface marks from storage; has a broken edge spot that runs about 4-5 grooves into start each side - I manually place the needle past this spot to play - without would be graded E-....otherwise, plays decently on my player with some lighter general surface noise - see photos)
  • ​Record 4:  E  (overall nice....some faint spots of superficial surface marks from storage....overall, plays nicely on my player with some faint general surface noise spots)
  • ​Record 5:  E-  (....spots of superficial surface marks from storage; has an outer edge chip spot S9 that runs right up to first starting groove in starting dead-wax this side - I manually place the needle at first groove to start play....otherwise, plays decently on my player with some spots of faint light general surface noise - see photos)
• LABELS:  (overall nice....a few spots of faint spindle marks to a couple labels....see photos)
• BINDER:  VG  (....general ageing/shelf/edge-rubs from storage; inner sleeve element was detached at some point and is currently held to outer binder sleeve by old tape repairs in this spot....see photos)

The VJM Grading System

N (78). As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).

N- (78). Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.

E+ (78). Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.

E  (78). Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.

E- (78). Still shiny but without the lustre of a new record, few light scratches.

V+ (78). V+ is an average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.

V (78). Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.

V- (78). Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.

G+ (78). Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.

G (78). Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.

G- (78). Music still prominent, but wear and scatch damage extensive.

F (78). Most of music remains audible over surface noise, but listening now uncomfortable.

P (78). Unplayable.
