Description
A late 1969 garage beat classic from Perth - The Birds - a band who emigrated from the UK and used the same name as an English band (that featured Ronnie Wood) and also recorded two of their songs on Martin Clarkes Clarion label - this is the 1st 45 from the band (also have the 2nd available now on separate listing and the 3rd one was sold last week). This is the best of the bunch musically - and didnt sell well either - and this is a stock rather than a promo copy (the original price sticker is still on the "A" Side I Cant Let Maggie Go (see scan) - most copies that turn up are promos rather than stock copies - not that they turn up period!! That sticker is easily removable by the way!!
Birds - Cant Let Maggie Go/No Good Without You - Clarion MCK 3333 (Oct 1969) - No Good Without You was also recorded by the UK band of the same name and is considered a gem amongst the freakbeat purists - this is a good version as well!!!
Condition - EX+ In original Festival paper sleeve - looks virtually unplayed Just the faintest of marks. A seriously collectable gem!! I have included a copy of the Festival promo sheet that came with promo copies of the record and includes some interesting blurb that two of the members (Terry Clarke and Brian Curtis) hailed from the English group of the same name!! I will leave the experts to debate the validity of that information but as per the scan, that is what is printed on the promo sheet.
I have a huge collection of Australian-pressed 45's of rare garage, beat, and r' n' b from both Australian and Overseas artists. It is all going to be sold off so watch this space!!
