Bizet Carmen Butterfly Beecham UK HMV ASD 331
Victoria de los Angeles, Nicolai Gedda, Janine Micheau and Ernest Blanc with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Nationale Radiodiffusion Francaise conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham perform Bizet’s ”Carmen”. A three record set, this is an English stereo pressing on the HMV Label (ASD 331/33). The labels are cream with a gold border and stereophonic, plum lettering, Made on Great Britain, and a small shaded dog. There are small scuffs on side one and three and otherwise the records are of excellent appearance and play and sound superb with occasional low-level surface noise. The box has some minor wear at the bottom and right-hand side, and there is a water stain at the top left-hand corner – otherwise it is in very good condition. The libretto has a few creases and comes with a latter dated from 1961 with regard to same – must not come with the box originally –and notes as well as the original tissue paper inserts.
