BLACK DYKE MILLS BAND - 'THINGUMYBOB'
UK 1968 1st PRESSING 45
This disc was the FOURTH of the four 45s on The Beatles' own Apple Records label, all released simultaneously on August 30th 1968. The tune 'Thingumybob' itself is an instrumental written & produced by Paul McCartney as a theme to a Yorkshire Television sitcom of the same name.
This hard to find original UK copy is on the dark green Apple label: APPLE 4
Both labels bear the 'Sold in UK..' text but no purchase tax code on either.
Housed in its original matt black Apple company cover.
Matrix numbers: APPLE 4A-1 &APPLE 4B-1
1003 A-1 & 1003 B-1 are crossed out in each respective run-out.
Stamper codes: 1/G & 1/R
CONDITION
Labels: EXCELLENT
A bright & unblemished pair with just a touch of wear around the side 1 centre hole, but no other significant faults.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Extremely bright & deep-glossy playing surfaces in strong daylight where the only significant blemishes is a long non-feelable fingernail scuff line on side 1 (the end of which is just visible in the 1st image). Close examination directly beneath halogen light reveals some harmless wispy paper hairlines but no further marks or wear.
Play: VERY GOOD
This quirky little tune plays with some light background wear, but no heavy clicks, pops or any other major faults to either side.
Cover
VERY GOOD
Clean & flat with some light storage wrinkles and two small tears to the front hole, but no seam splits or writing.
