Description

DESCRIPTION: Black Sabbath LP- 1st self titled LP.  Early UK press in gatefold sleeve with 1Y1/2Y1 matrix and large swirl label. No Philips credit. The vinyl is unusually thick, you notice it as soon as you pull the disc out of the sleeve. Ive not seen another copy of this at this weight- 160gm. Packed this weighs over 500 gm so overseas postage is as for a double.
LABEL AND CATALOGUE NUMBER: Vertigo VO 6 847 90.
YEAR OF RELEASE: 1970.
COUNTRY OF RELEASE: UK:
CONDITION (VINYL/COVER): F (Please read on)/VG. Vinyl is clean with a decent sheen, a lot of brushing lines, hairlines and surface lines.  Played all of this today on my budget deck. Sits flat on turntable. Music generally sounds VG.  Music is pretty loud and prominent throughout.  It has some background sound in the intros. There are also some ticks between tracks and in the quiet passages, It also skips twice and sticks twice during "Black Sabbath". This will give you an authentic 1970s vinyl listening session as you will need to get up off your ass and move the needle across a touch.  There are also a couple of skips in "NIB" and one in "Sleeping Village".  Cover is firm and square and has only light to moderate edge wear,  moderate corner wear and light  creasing. There is a small mark and a splash of white paint between the L and A of Black sabbath.Very clean inside and rear of  gatefold sleeve.
Swirl inner is in very decent condition with no writing,no edgesplits but 3 tears around centre holeon one side.  I will include a new white inner with the original anyway. Clean labels. No writing, rips, stickers or sticker tears.
GRADING SYSTEM: I use UK’s “Record Collector” Grading system. MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface mark or deterioration in the sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in the sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover, or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration etc. I will at times use a + or - to indicate when a record falls between the grades.
I am just starting to sell off my very extensive record collection, built up over 40 years. I have hundreds of rarities in fantastic condition from many genres including blues, punk, metal, britpop, progressive, kraut, classic and hard rock. Almost all of the records i list will be in at least VG+ condition. The only exceptions would be some extremely rare records. PLEASE ADD ME TO YOUR FAVORITE SELLERS LIST.
