Black Sabbath –Very Rare 1st Album. Earliest possible 1st pressing with "Made in Holland" on label & 1969 & 1970 years machine stamped in matrix
“Ossie” Osborne mistake in credits
This is a one owner from new album.
First pressings of Black Sabbath’s debut album are quite rare. They were usually pressed in the UK or Germany. To find one of the much scarcer Philips Dutch ‘Made in Holland’1st pressings and with the year 1969 stamped in the matrix makes this even harder to come by.
This one is in great condition. This a very collectable album.
BLACK SABBATH Black Sabbath (Rare original 1969/1970 ‘Made In Holland’ Philips pressing on Vertigo 'spiral' label issue 7-track vinyl LP, front laminated gatefold picture sleeve. The sleeve shows only light shelf wear with a little warping of the card around the opening, but with completely intact edges and spine; the vinyl genuinely is NEAR MINT with barely any discernible spindle marks indicating VERY little play - a truly amazing copy of this near forty year-old album!
Initially on the front cover of the Dutch pressings "VERTIGO SPIRAL" was stamped. Over the years it has worn off. You can just see, if you look hard, the outlines of the letters. The lettering was never meant to be permanent. Just temporary identification that it was issued on the Vertigo Spiral label. This isn't a flaw.

Vinyl, Labels, Audio. All Near Mint
Gatefold Sleeve: Excellent.++ (slight warping around the edge of the opening & very slight grey/white stain on the inside of the gatefold.
Inner Sleeve: Original white plastic liner with central hole is excellent ++.
THE NETHERLANDS –‘ MADE IN HOLLAND’
Vertigo in The Netherlands released a few British albums, but most were imported from either Britain or Germany.
The album matrix numbers are machine-stamped and read as follows:
SIDE 1: AA 847902 1V1 (P)1969 670 03 111
SIDE 2: AA 847903 2V1 (P)1970 670 111
AA: An internal code indicating a Philips Pressing
1V1 (SIDE A) & 2V1 (SIDE B) indicating FIRST MOTHER DISC
670 is the Country Code. So 670 indicates NETHERLANDS
(P)1969 & (P)1970) Indicates the year of release
As you can see this is the earliest possible pressing.
Side 1 was pressed in 1969. Side 2 in 1970.
Labels on Dutch albums adopted the strategy of a full swirl logo on the A-side (identical to Britain and not to Germany) and information on the B-side from the beginning (although not consistently so)
All Dutch albums have ''Made in Holland'' clearly stated at the bottom of the label. The Vertigo logo and wording appear above the spindle hole. To the right of the rpm there are 2 small boxes – these were reduced to a single box on the later 1970 pressings. Later pressings were pressed on the Philips label.

In the credits Ozzy Osborne is mistakenly credited as “Ossie Osborne”
