Description

A 1st issue of SBS on the UK WWA label from  Dec-1973>>Jan-1974. Matrix 2/2. The WWA logo is in white, not silver, so please be aware this is not the very 1st pressing. For the Xmas release WWA ended up pressing vinyl with two concurrent catalogue numbers WWA05 and ACB166! This pressing is testament to this unusual situation. It mentions both numbers on the labels and then, again, in the deadwax. WWA005 is crossed out and has been superseded by ACB166. This only occurred prior to, and at the time of, release hence why we are referring to this issue as a 1st issue [It is not a 1st press]. The LP comes housed in an original gatefold cover - there's no printers credit on the rear which you only find on the earlier copies. No original lyric inner sleeve I'm afraid. But boy is this copy well preserved!
Vinyl (Ex+) Wowzers this really is one superbly preserved record. Lovely shiny surfaces and has clearly seen very light use indeed. Under close inspection we could barely make out a  marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet. The audio comes across with excellent clarity and minimal interference. We only detected a couple of crackles literally in a couple of places. The audio playback is really a treat to behold and does no harm to one of Sabbath's finest moments.
Cover (Ex+) That fussy black front is totally intact and that is very very unsual. The rear also often succumbs to ageing, but this one has survived with barely any ageing or wear at all. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and the spine is pristine. Don't think I've seen one as fine as this in a while....
Inner (Ex) A near miracle to find this original inner in this condition. They were so so fragile that only in the very occasional example do they turn up in this perfectly preserved condition. No marks and no rips, barely any ageing either.
