Description
This listing is for a first U.S. pressing of Black Sabbath's Master of Reality album and original poster. I bought this album back in 1971 and used tape on the back instead of thumb tacks to hang it on my wall so there are no pin holes. There are no marks on the front of the poster, but I was not careful enough when taking it down and there is a small 1" tear along the right side at the bottom as can be seen in two of the photos. My hand is not steady enough to repair with tape so I will leave that to the next owner.
I am not a professional grader so I took 24 photos of everything included to help you determine the grading. If asked I would say the record and the album cover are each between VG and VG+ using Goldmine Grading. I haven't played the album in 40 years so I played the album today and found both sides have a few audible clicks on the first song but I would not call them pops which are louder and they didn't overpower the music imho. There was surface noise during quieter passages and clicks between a few songs. You will see from the photos that both sides still have shine and the last photo shows some of the surface scratches. Past playing had not misshapen the center hole.
The album cover has creases and you can see some ring wear mostly on the front. The embossed artwork on the front is raised and visible. There are no splits along the edges but there is some edge wear and flaking along the spine.
Even though the record is stored in a MoFi original master record inner sleeve I do still have the original "Warner/Reprise Loss Leaders" inner sleeve included and there are photos of both sides showing it is in good condition though browning with age.
I confirmed this is a first pressing because the runout reads: BS-2562 39928-1 [Artisan logo] and BS-2562 39928-2 [Artisan logo]. Catalog number "BS 2562" appears on back cover and center labels. "2562" appears on front cover only. Also the song "After Forever" is incorrectly credited to "Ioomi-Ward-Osbourne-Butler"on the record and the back of sleeve credits "After Forever" to only Iommi.
I've retired now and need to downsize so I will be selling off my record collection beginning with this one. All albums are stored in MoFi outer sleeves and records are stored in MoFi original master record inner sleeves in a bookcase in a pet-free, smoke free home.
