1970 1st Pressing Black Sabbath
Side A, Vertigo "Large" swirl label, with Vertigo listed towards the bottom below the spindle hole on side B of the record labels. The vinyl itself is unique as a 1st pressing as there is no break in between the tracks Hand of Doom and Rat Salad it looks like only 3 tracks pressed on the side B of the record when actually plays four songs. On later pressings Hand of Doom and Rat Salad are separate tracks
The Gatefold record cover is Unlaminated unique to 1st pressings, and has the credit caption on the inside of the gatefold mentioning "Managment /Jim Simpson, Big Bear, Birmingham" which can be made out in the photos, this is omitted from the credits on later pressings.
This rare 1st press record plays Loud and clear, without any skips. Track 3 Planet Caravan plays through and does have some quiet pops, they take nothing away from this quiet track. A very fine hairline on side A has no affect to the playing of this record at all. The gatefold is storage rubbed at corners slightly and a small area of the inside print is missing lower left and right to the inside of the gatefold. I have stored the record in a spare Vertigo inner sleeve but the original is still with the record, complete with poly and in good condition. In general the record is very clean, retains its original shine and sounds great and I've graded it Excellent condition.
Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
I'm selling off part of my record collection, which I started 27 years ago. I'm not a record dealer, I do know how to grade records from a collectors point of view. I have tried discribe Paranoid accurately, however if anyone buys any record from me and feels it's not as discribed, I will be happy to refund as long as the same record is returned to me promptly and in the same condition I sent it. records will be posted in record mailers with cardboard stiffeners within 2 working days of receiving cleared Paypal funds. I will only post within the UK using royal mail.
