Unexpected health issues have brought me to the point that after forty years of collecting I want to part with my vinyl and try to fund some bucket list experiences before it's too late. 

I am reluctant and excited to be making the move to sell my entire record collection. One record at a time. 

I've really enjoyed collecting records and crate digging wherever I went. No friends or family here are interested in music in the same enthusiastic way, so I want to pass on my real fans who will continue to preserve and enjoy the music I have found and been entertained by for many years.

These items are all from my own personal collection. I am not a shop!

I will take the time and care to give you all the information that you seek and provide your records in a safe and timely manner or your money back.

BEFORE YOU START BIDDING

Here are some things that are good to know in advance.

Most of my collection has been carefully boxed and stored for a number of years.I'm just unpacking some of it now. I will give them a simple clean before playing but all will have some amount of dust and I leave any deep cleaning up to you, as everyone has there own preferences.

• I play test every record from start to finish.

• I write more about any flaws than I do about the great bits.

• Vinyl is played with a Thorens TD 165 turntable and Rotel amp.

• A track by track assessment is given.

• I use the U.K Rare Record Price Guide used for grading.

• The definitions for each grade are displayed below the listing.

• Postal information and prices are also displayed below.

• Records are provided with an additional white inner and poly sleeve.

We'll take a look at the record sleeve, inner and any additional inserts. Visually grade both labels and both sides of the vinyl. I will play each side through and give a track by track analysis and grade. From those grades an average grade is reached for each side. I'll be listening through headphones.

THE SLEEVE

GRADES EXCELLENT

FRONT. 

This is a laminated sleeve. It looks beautiful. Well preserved and pretty fresh looking. There are some fine surface marks as would be expected. No names or sticker, no tears. There is very little creasing. There is one 2 inch crease as shown. There is a mark / anomaly just above the I and below the W. It is a small raised bump. Grades as excellent. 

BACK. 

Again like the front, this is laminated. Light surface marks present. Very tidy looking in general. Some very fine creases. No rips, names or stickers. Grades as excellent.

SPINE.

Super looking spine. No compression and very little creasing. All text is clearly visible and reads "VERTIGO. BLACK SABBATH. PARANOID .6360 011". It is in very sound condition. There is rubbing at the bottom corner, and a small 4mm section of the cover surface has gone, revealing the card below.The top corner has hardly any rubbing.

OPENING.

Good and flat as you would hope. The edges are still pretty sharp and have no major feathering issues. There are no rips or tears. 

CORNERS.

Front corners: Top left, hardly any rubbing. Top right hardly any rubbing. Bottom right hardly any rubbing, very slightly bumped. Bottom left, small section of cover surface missing.Back cover. Top left, mild rubbing and lightly bumped. Top right, small 2mm x 3mm section of surface missing. Bottom rightMild rubbing. Bottom right, light rubbing, mild bump.

TOP AND BOTTOM EDGES.

In tip top condition with no significant rubbing and nice sharp edges. Neither edge have any splits and look far from getting any. 

INNER SLEEVE

EXCELLENT PLUS

This comes with paper poly lined Vertigo company sleeve. "British patent number 800153 973939. MADE IN ENGLAND. 4913 000 12801   304" and has the "Plastic bags can be dangerous" statement to the right hand side. It is in excellent plus condition and had no real signs of age, no splits or tears and no writing. Very little amount of creasing. I haven't seen many in such good shape. 

LABELS

EXCELLENT PLUS / EXCELLENT PLUS

SIDE ONE.

Perfect and with no rubbing or marks. No names or stickers. Really nice label. Grades excellent plus

SIDE TWO.

Can't be faulted. Very well preserved label. Mark free and super clean. Not bad at all for 48 years old.  Grades excellent plus.

LIVE AUDIO GRADINGS

EXCELLENT / EXCELLENT

SIDE ONE

War pigs.

Bid loud sounding mixes on this album. A little bit of acceptable light crackle in the dead wax lead in. The low end sounds really full. Ozzy"s vocals come across loud and clearly. No major crackle.My stylus is set to be quiet light. Less background noises are heard with a heavier setting. I heard a very, very low repeating click for about four revolves.Depending on your equipment you may not even hear it. But it was really way back. This track has a great heavy dark funk groove to it. No signs of this track being overplayed and the top and bottom end frequencies are all sounding clear and sharp. Grades excellent.

Paranoid.

Classic. The bass is really booming in this mix. All sounds well. No loss in audio quality. The vocals are sounding good and you really noticed the echo.No clicks or skips. Grades Excellent.

Planet caravan.

This has been quite a warm sounding album so far. The instruments on this track all sound very well rounded. It is a very "quiet" track in comparison with the first two. Even on near mint copies you will hear some background dust. This track is no exception. Very slight. The guitar solo great. There's a bit more of a noticable crackle in a couple of parts. Over all it sounds really good, and grades as excellent minus.

Iron man 

Starts with the kick drum only. Good and punchy, with some crackle audible until all things kick off. It's a big loud track. Recording quality of the drums stands out for me here. Great song! No loss in sound quality or signs of over playing. Highs are crisp and lows are full and fat. Yeah, no problems. No skips, no repeating clicks or overt background noise despite this side showing some visual marks. Audio grade for this awesome track is excellent.This was a really great sounding side with no real issues to mention.

SIDE TWO

Electric funeral. 

Pretty quiet dead wax lead in , the BOOM! This mix is hot. Booming bass end, and the guitar is cutting through, really biting tone, loud and reverberating my headphone speakers. The bass drum sounds like it is right here. No background noises of any note. Free from pops or clicks, no skips. Grades as excellent.

Hand of doom. Pretty quiet between tracks, low level dust way back is noticable because it's a quiet start to the track. Then it's all good.I just heard a couple of super low pops in the first bass solo. It's another track that has very little, if any , loss of sound quality. Amazing to think that it is near 50 years old. The snare drum has a good sound on this track. Same with the kick drum, especially in the quieter parts. They have quite a dry , close mic'd sound. Brilliant production on this album thanks to Roger Bain. I hear a little crackle in the the bars. Grades as excellent.

Rat salad.

The kick drum at the start of this sounds awesome. I can almost feel the air moving with it. The guitars are really cutting, and jump out of the mix. The drum solo is sounding really clear. Easy grade as excellent.

Faeries wear boots.

Big sounding track. No loss in audio quality. Audio is really good. The guitar sounds fat and chunky, and crunches away. The cymbals are really bright with no deterioration in clarity. No pops or clicks, fantastic audio. Grades another Excellent.

A great sounding full side of classic rock!

VISUAL GRADES

VERY GOOD MINUS / VERY GOOD MINUS

SIDE ONE. 

Decent flay laying vinyl with no waves or bumps.This side has a good sheen and plenty of mark free surface area. It is not worn out looking and does show some signs of being played, and having a life full of giving pleasure. There are noticeable sleeve removal mark that are as always very light. Under hard light I can see many light to moderate weight small scratches. Cuing slips most likely. Theres a group of these marks on and between track three and four.They range in size and weight the longest being about 1.3 cm and the short about 3mm. There is on mark, quiet moderate but the heaviest of the lot. It too is on and between track 3-4 and is approximately 5mm long. I must have really liked Iron man a lot. There are a few other marks and scuffs. I make it sound terrible, which it isn't, but these marks are there. If any turned up and affected the audio. I will have mentioned it in the audio grades.  Visually this side grades as very good minus.

SIDE TWO.

Again there is a good bright sheen and lots of unmarked surface. Signs again of life ranging from very light sleeve removal, and cleaning marks. To mild to light scratches ranging from 3mm to 60mm (this is a zig zag type of mark that runs over tracks 2,3 and 4. It's skinny and light to moderate. There's another long light scratch over all tracks. It's a very fine and light hairline. It looks like it has been enjoyed and played often. Care has been taken with it, though some accidents and raging have occurred along the way. It grades very good minus.

FINAL THOUGHTS

What a classic album this is. The audio is of a high standard on this pressing. The mix and production second to none. This has a superb looking sleeve that is in great condition with a nice looking inner. Visually there are marks, so it is not a pristine final upgrade. But due to the top condition of this set it places this pressing above midway on the scale. This is a decent playing copy and good addition for a collection.

GRADE DEFINITIONS, POSTAL AND PAYMENT INFO BELOW.

GRADING YOUR VINYL

I use the classic U.K Rare Record Guide grading system. Detailed below are their guidelines.

MINT

The LP or single is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT 

The LP or single shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD

The LP or single has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and an occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and contents without any major defects.

GOOD

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing edges, spine splits, discoloring etc.

POSTAGE

All records come with a protective poly sleeve, and new white inner. Records are shipped outside of the sleeve within reinforced cardboard packaging to ensure safety during transit.
