Description
This LP offering is the eponymously titled debut album by Black Sabbath. This particular pressing appears to be a Terra Haute Pressing according to a well know discography site. With little exception, this is where it all began for metalheads. The importance of this record cannot be understated and ownership is mandatory for any self-respecting hard rock or heavy metal fan.
We were excited to find this copy and offer it for sale. The jacket is conservatively graded Good Plus (G+). Other sellers are grading a sleeve/jacket in this condition as Very Good Plus (VG+). There is wear to the jacket, please study the pictures closely. This is a 49 year-old record and when you reach 49, we assure you, there will be wear. We're reporting corner, spine, ring, and edge wear. Please see the pictures, the ring wear is not severe.
The record is graded Very Good (VG) and is consistent with Goldmine grading standards. There are fine surface scratches on the record that affect play and a large scuff on Side One - Track One that does not affect play.
The record was cleaned twice on a Loricraft Audio Professional Record Cleaner. After the first cleaning (run in groove to run off groove), we play graded the record and felt additional improvement in sound could be made. Following a second cleaning (run off groove to run in groove) we play graded the record and the surface noise was reduced, however we are not changing the grade. The result of the second cleaning was Side One seemed to play more quietly and some of the noise that was pronounced on the first listening was reduced. Side two of the record plays with much less noise than Side One, though there are spots of noise.
To find a better record, you will be north of the $50 range. There is plenty of life in this record. Listening near field after cleaning round two, the depth and clarity seemed to pop. If you've read Better Records, we would believe Side Two of this copy came from a hot stamper, it's that good.
In summary, if we didn't own a slightly cleaner copy, this one would go into the collection. This is your chance to own a piece of rock history. We welcome any questions, don't be shy.
The record ships with the original WB inner sleeve, please see the pictures. We are storing the record in a new white paper inner (not pictured but included) and we added a polyvinyl outer sleeve for extra protection.
Thanks for looking and enjoy the music!
