First press, miss spelling of Osborne’s first name as “Ossie” rather than “Ozzie”, which was quickly corrected with subsequent pressing.
The Classic, self titled, 1970 DEBUT Black Sabbath album, considered by many to be the very “roots” of HEAVY rock.

It is COMPLETE with ORIGINAL VERTIGO “SWIRL PATTERN” INNER SLEEVE.
This album FIRST saw the light of day exclusively in the U.K, there were no simultaneous releases in other countries.
That first release date being February 1970, rather fittingly on FRIDAY 13th.
This was on Philips then “new” rock label “VIRTIGO”, the labels logo reflected the name in the swirling “hypnotic” black and white pattern that this first U.K. pressing had on BOTH RECORD LABEL AND INNER SLEEVE
The record plays superbly; it is both cosmetically and functionally excellent.
COSMETICALLY
The vinyl is bright and shiny, has no scuffs or stylus runs, just one short scratch (see**below) it’s clean and is free of any dullness or patchiness.
SOUND OUTPUT
The sound reproduction is brilliant, the record has clearly only had light playing, and on a good deck too, because the sound is crisp, loud and bright, and the vinyl most certainly produces NO “played out” distortion, at all!
The quiet parts play as enjoyably cleanly as the loud parts, only the lightest, spasmodic static crackle to be heard from time to time.
As for scratches ** there is one short isolated scratch on side one, track two “The Wizard” just producing a single light “tick” per revolution for 23 seconds only, a pretty insignificant artifact, and during a fairly loud part too, so makes no real detraction at all, but its mentioned for full clarity.
I AM HAPPY TO SEND AN MP3 FILE OF THIS VERY SECTION OF THE RECORD, as well as representative examples of various tracks, quiet and loud, and the transition points between them to give an example of the true “background” condition.
THE GATEFOLD COVER.
The cover is also a superb example; it’s the ORIGINAL GATEFOLD and it has NO RING WEAR, no creases, tears, stains, fading or graffiti.
There is a small white patch at the very top left corner of the front face, where a label once was (private collector’s catalogue number) this has long gone, but left a small white area behind.
In inner, mainly black face of the sleeve is also in virtually mint condition, a couple of tiny white dots on a plain black area being the only thing I can find, and pretty trivial at that.
THE INNER SLEEVE
The sleeve is LIKE NEW, it is the ORIGINAL polythene lined vertigo “swirl pattern” inner, it has no tears, stains or graffiti.
