Blazing Redheads (Reference Recordings vinyl). Why I purchased this album new from a high-end audio store back in the late 80s I really can't say. I listen almost exclusively to classical music, but I must have got caught up in what at the time looked like the twilight of vinyl records when any audiophile with a turntable was trying to buy up every LP in existence. It's not my kind of music, yet the few times I've listened to it since then I can't help wishing that Professor Johnson's had been the industry standard for audio engineering from the start. If, when listening to this record, your shoes remain motionless on the floor, either you're not wearing them or your legs have gone to sleep. You want a recording in your collection to show off your system to friends, and this one is it. Except for a faint gray streak along the bottom of the back cover (it has been hibernating on the shelf for almost 40 years after all), this thing looks brand new. The surfaces are pristine, the sound pure analog bliss.
