Blind Boy Fuller COUNTRY BLUES 1935-40 Vinyl LP BBL7512 **PINK FLOYD INTEREST**

For sale is this very scarce vinyl LP of BLIND BOY FULLER - COUNTRY BLUES 1935-1940 on the Philips label 1962. This copy is the U.K. 1st Issue of this legendary record that with a handful of others (particularly the Robert Johnson collection King Of The Delta Blues Singers) kick-started the British Blues explosion of the 1960s. It was a must-have for British blues aficionados in the early 60s and was known to be in the collections of amongst others Keith Richards and most famously Syd Barrett.* It was whilst reading the sleeve notes of this record that lightning struck Syd Barrett and he put together the words "Pink " and "Floyd" for the first time. This record is highly-sought after by Pink Floyd collectors as well as blues collectors. The recordings on the record were apparently mastered by Philips engineers direct from the original 1930s shellac 78s and the sound quality they achieved in a pre-digital age is quite remarkable.
*Author Julian Palacios who wrote "Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd: Dark Globe" the definitive biography of Syd Barrett confirms that it was in the sleeve notes of this record in his collection that Barrett found the names of Pinkney "Pink" Anderson and Floyd Council and combined them to form the name of his band:
"‘The name Pink Floyd comes from two blues singers from Georgia, USA – Pink Anderson and Floyd Council,’ explained Syd. Barrett picked up a 1962 Blind Fuller LP, Country Blues: 1935-1940, and chanced upon the surnames of Carolina blues men Floyd Council and Pinkney Anderson from the liner notes"  -Julian Palacios, Syd Barrett And Pink Floyd: Dark Globe.
The record comes in a fold-out sleeve with laminated front. The matrices are:
Side One-  AA 13650 ▽ 1L//2 ▽ 420,    Side Two -    AA 13650 2L // 1 // 420
Condition* The Sleeve is in overall Good (G) condition. It shows some signs of age. The surfaces, edges and corners have light wear only. There is no creasing to the front or back. The cellophane tape that reinforced the edges has yellowed and become perished over the years but the sleeve itself has very little damage. There is some foxing to the fabric reinforcement of the spine inside the gatefold (pictured). Overall an acceptable sleeve.
The disc is graded Very Good (VG). It has been play tested through from start to finish. The record has numerous light marks and scratches on both sides and a couple that are heavier. Most of these do not intrude into the audio beyond some crackle. There is one in particular that is audible as a noticeable click for much of Cat Man Blues. For this reason I have only graded the disc (VG). Otherwise it plays through without fault though with a good amount of pop and crackle some of which is attributable to the original source recordings. Overall a good playable copy of this very scarce record though with some flaws.

In other words: Good (G), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Excellent (EX) and Near Mint (NM). Anything better than that would be Mint and would be listed as new. Anything worse than Good I probably wouldn't be selling.
