Description

In this auction:

  • “BLIND FAITH” self-titled FIRST and ONLY LP by BLIND FAITH (comprised of Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Rick Grech and Ginger Baker)

  • This is ATCO RECORDS SD 33-304.

  • It was released in 1969.

  • This is the VERY UNCOMMON/RARE WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL PRESSING IN STEREO.

  • WHITE PROMO LABELS on the vinyl have the printing “SAMPLE COPY NOT FOR SALE”.

  • The cover has a ROUND ORANGE STICKER that reads “PROMOTIONAL COPY NOT FOR SALE”.

  • As you probably know, PROMOTIONAL RECORDS were ONLY released by record companies to the radio stations and DJs for airplay. They were produced in very small/limited quantities and were NOT made available for sale to the general public; therefore, many promotional records have become highly sought after by vinyl collectors and fans of certain recording artists/bands.

  • This LP contains the following cuts: “Can’t Find My Way Home”, “Well All Right”, “Sea of Joy”, “Had to Cry Today”, “Presence of the Lord” and “Do What You Like”.

  • The cover is the modified cover without the naked girl that was initially found to be objectionable. The cover has the photo of the band on the front cover and the song lyrics on the rear cover.

  • The COVER is in VERY STRONG VG CONDITION with light to moderate overall cover wear. The front cover slick generally has light wear. There is a SMALL PROMO PUNCH HOLE at the top left corner. The primarily white rear cover slick, with the song titles and lyrics printed, shows some light to moderate age-spotting/scattered “foxing” spots. (Please note that it seems like the flash on the camera makes the spotting appear darker than when viewing the rear cover under normal lighting.) There is also a sticker stain near the top right corner of the rear cover. The SPINE and SEAMS are STRONG with NO SPLITTING and MINIMAL WEAR. The CORNERS are NICE and SHARP with PRACTICALLY NO WEAR. So, THIS COVER has NO SEAM SPLITS, NO WRITING, NO TEARS, and NO RING WEAR.

  • The VINYL is in VERY STRONG VG+ CONDITION (not far from Near Mint). It has a few very light/slight paper scuffs and a couple of very light/slight surface hairlines not at all “feelable”. The vinyl has lots of gloss.

P.  P.S. If you haven’t seen the July 7, 1969 concert in Hyde Park, London on-line where Blind Faith (among others)

p   performed, you really should check it out on-line.
