Description

This is an extremely rare WHITE LABEL RADIO PLAY COPY of Dylans 1966 masterpiece BLONDE ON BLONDE, a US Columbia MONO pressing in gatefold sleeve.1966 LP inside layout with 9 photos including Claudia Cardinale and unknown whisperer. When Blonde On Blonde was recorded, mono was still the normal format for LPs. Artists and producers considered the mono version of an album as the main product and channelled their efforts on getting that right. The stereo mix was of secondary importance as it catered for a small minority market, and thus was of much interest.

This US mono pressing of the album is consideded superior to later versions because of the “warmth, depth and solidity of the bass sound; this has to be heard to be believed “. The tracks Pledging My Time and I Want You are unique recordings to the US Mono LP, being of a different length to any other US or UK pressings.

The sleeve has the Columbia logo in the upright position. The cover is an overall vg but has NO MAJOR faults eg splits or tears (See Album Condition section below)

The sound quality is exceptional for an LP nearly 40 years old. The vinyl has numerous light surface marks (having been a radio station copy) but no serious scratches or faults. A very conservative visual grading would be vg to vg- but the in terms of sound quality it plays excellent or even better for much of the album. No jumps, loud clicks or major faults (See individual track Sound Quality below)

All in all this an excellent opportunity to own a major Dylan rarity with a low starting price and NO RESERVE
