Description
An original 1st press of PL's on the MFSL label in 1981 [two years after 1st general release]. And just to prove provenance we even have the original till receipt from summer 1981 - three months after 1st release. The vinyl comes housed in an original 'printed in USA' cover. Also included is the original poly-lined anti-static inner bag. We also have all the MFSL literature including warranty - please see the pics. So, 100% genuine and 100% original.
Vinyl (Ex+) OK, so this copy will be of an interest to an audiophile. Whilst a sealed copy is what everyone would like - this copy is effectively going to be on a par due to the very very lightest of use. We have held the record up closely to the eye in good light and we are struggling to see any signs of use. At worst there is one super-light spindle mark on each label....can't say fairer than that! We didn't clean the record - it doesn't need it...it is perfectly preserved. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. MFSL copies pressed in Japan are feted for being some of the best sounding available. You can really hear it in the audio - to my ears this sounds clean with excellent transparency. This one is easy to grade...when it is nigh on perfect there's not much else to say other than this is a 'straight outta the bag performance'. Perfect resolution and clarity - ZERO interference all the way through...possibly two crackles in an isolated moment [literally]. FINAL UPGRADE - easy..
Cover (Ex-) These USA printed covers are notoriously difficult to find in clean condition. This copy has a lovely clean front and back, with maybe super-light handling. Edge wear is mostly very light. There's just a touch more on the spine. You can still make out most of the text, but do expect a couple of scuffs and small breaks - otherwise absolutely fine. The cover retains excellent rigidity and remains a very impressive example.
Inner (Ex+) Seems to be faultless.
Lyric Sheet (Ex+) No issues at all.
All other inserts (Ex/Ex+) No issues at all.
